Dichotomised between a deep acknowledgement of the intergenerational genius, creativity, civilisational contributions and resistance of African heritage people with Bristol's historic and significant involvement in the enslavement and exploitation of African people and it's contemporary legacies.
The Active Archives + Afrikan As Future Summertide Seminary invites participants of all backgrounds to gather over a week, a day, a workshop or a performance in order to hold space in Bristol towards realising individual & collective healing.
"Spread over a combination of mornings, lunchtimes, evenings and lates, we aim to enable both complete immersion into the week-long process and stand alone experiences in as an accessible way as possible. The week will be concluded with both a Healings In Dub installation performance and a Gnawa Healing Ceremony.
We acknowledge the determination and the will of both our contributors and ancestors who have led us to this point where we need to work with intention to address the past so that we may heal and forge a better present and future.
We welcome contributions from volunteers, donations and sponsors. We also hope that you may be able to share this information far and wide through social media and networks."
