SOMETHING FOR NOW by Roseanna Anderson & Josh Ben-Tovim
Performed as part of a night we produced at the Bristol Old Vic, which also featured live artist Lucy McCormick and Musican Alexandra Hamilton Ayres... see round up vide below.
Gertrude Stein describes Picasso in a cubist poem, evoking Napoleon the former European emperor. Lou Reed, prophet of downtown, helps his audience escape from New York in a recording from 1972. Schubert, dead at 31, unrequited in love, whilst ecstasy pours through the fingers of pianist Mitsuko Uchida. Naomi Klein repeats her message, again. And Elvis, much condemned for his appropriation of Black music, singing an old Italian song, with full heart, is our American symbol today.
