After almost a year since stages across the world went dark, Birmingham Royal Ballet, in association with Impermanence, is proud to present Empty Stage, a new short film dedicated to the ambition to keep ballet and performing alive, this film is a tribute to the industry that we all know and love.
Inspired by Benjamin Scheuer's heartstring-tugging song, and directed by Roseanna Anderson and Joshua Ben-Tovim, Empty Stage, is a hope-filled storytelling of the struggles and the uncertainty we've faced as a community. This new film is Carlos Acosta's first major digital commission for the Company. Working with artists from different disciplines is a deep-rooted desire for Carlos; whilst continuing to nurture and highlight the world-class talent in his own company, there is also a strong pull to do the same through cross-art collaborations.
