The impermanent theatre
In 2014 we worked with designer Cecile Tremeliores to design and build a pop-up stage. The brief was to create a structure that would fit in the back of a van, and could be set up in any location, in various configurations to allow flexibility of use.
Cecile collaborated with architect Patrick Morris on her design
The Impermanent Theatre was exhibited at the Prague Quadrennial for stage design in 2015, and at the V&A exhibition Make/Believe: UK Design for Performance 2011-2015.
We toured with The Impermanent Theatre to a number of UK festivals including: Lattitude, Bestival, Shambala, The Tagore Festival, Kelburn Garden Party, Beacons Festival, Kendal Calling... as well as various community events in Bristol.
For the same tour, we also commisioned off-grid solar energy pioneer Andy Hope to design and build a custom Solar Powered Sound System... seen below in transportation mode, POSSIM (portable solar sound and illumination module), was a novel and effective way to set up an amplified performance space without the need for mains electricity. We toured with it extensively through 2014-2017.
